(1) EVALUATION OF FEEDING VALUE OF NILEGRASS FOR DAIRY GOATS
Goats fed Bermudagrass diet, Nilegrass haylage diet or nilegrass hay diet had similar dry matter intake, body weight change, milk production , milk compositions and milking efficiency. Both the nilegrass haylage and hay are good forage sources for lactating dairy goats. Its nutritional value for dairy goats is comparable to that of Bermudagrass hay.
(2) EVALUATION OF WHOLE PLANT SUNFLOWER SILAGE AS A FORAGE SOURCE FOR GROWING DAIRY GOATS
Result indicated that good quality sunflower silage at 90-d growth period can be a good forage for growing dairy goats. A diet with 7% of sunflower silage is proper for dairy goats.
(3) TO SCREEN THE LOW-CARBON EMISSION FEED BY A SIMPLE IN VITRO FERMENTATION METHOD WITH BUTTERFLY JECT
In this study, a simple in vitro fermentation method was designed to screen the low-carbon emission feed. This in vitro anaerobic fermentation method was based on the in vitro dry matter digestibility (IVDMD) method. For forages and by-products, emission amount of CH4 (y1) and CO2 (y2) increased with increasing IVDMD (y1 = 1.9473 x - 66.545, R2 = 0.92; y2 = 0.0338 x - 0.817, R2 = 0.66). Among napiergrass varieties, their CH4 (y1) and CO2 (y2) emission quantity decreased with their increasing IVDMD (y1 = -0.8923 x + 113.33, R2 = 0.81, y2 = -0.0139 x + 2.6889, R2 = 0.48). By the in vitro fermentation method, it found that the dry matter digestibility of feed is highly correlated with its greenhouse gas emission, especially the CH4.
(4) EFFECT OF NAPIERGRASS TAISHIGRASS NO.3 AND NAPIERGRASS TAISHIGRASS NO.2 IN DIETS ON THE LACTATING PERFORMANCE OF GOATS
Goats fed with Napiergrass Taishigrass No.3 strain had higher dry matter intake, milk yield, 4% fat-corrected milk, dry matter/body weight and milk composition when compared to the napiergrass Taishigrass No.2 strain.
