III. Biomedical Applications

1.High-Resolution Biomedical Imaging Database for 3-6 Month Lanyu Pigs: Due totheir small size and ease of   handling, these pigs are suitable for exploring disease mechanisms and developingnew therapeutic techniques. Applications include clinical surgical training, animal transplantation studies, dental biomaterial  development, and testing for drug-induced skin allergies and tissue compatibility.

2. Deer Bone Gel Extraction for Ready-to-Eat Products: Through heat extraction, whole deer bones are processed into a gel, distinguishing the product from traditional medicinal deer bone gelatin and creating a frozen gel snack suitable for all age groups.

3. Functional Component Extraction from Purple Pennisetum: This involves adding anthocyanins andother phytonutrients to feed, which supports anti-inflammatory and immune-modulating effects in animals.

Awards

2013: The Eastern Region Branch received certification from the Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care (AAALAC), becoming Taiwan's first livestock-based supplier of laboratory animals.

2023: Optimization of Taiwan Sambar Deer Production Efficiency received the 20th National Innovation Award for Academic-Industrial Innovation.
